Despite Tragedy . . . God Is Still Working!
Turning on the news can be discouraging and sometimes upsetting as we watch our world crumbling around us. It’s obvious that we need a course correction, an immediate change of direction.God wants our hearts to return/turn to Him, but the path of humility and brokenness lies in our court: Will we respond to His Spirit and take the next step in the right direction? The good news, despite all the tragedy, is that God is still working in our midst.Together 2016 will take place Saturday, July 16, on the National Mall in Washington, DC, where as many people as possible will come together around Jesus in unified prayer, worship, and a call for catalytic change. Speakers and leaders such as Francis Chan, Ronnie Floyd, Louie Giglio, Casting Crowns, Hillsong United, and many more will be leading times of worship and learning. Please be in prayer for Nick Hall and the RESET team as they put together the final details. Pray that this will be a generation-defining moment of prayer, worship, and change. (OneCry partnered with Nick Hall and RESET on the National Day of Prayer for the OneCry Prayer Summit.)OneCry Mid-South is a solemn assembly happening in Chattanooga, TN, on the same day as Together 2016. You may recall that last July 16, a terrorist opened fire on two military installations in Chattanooga, killing four Marines and a Navy sailor. Ministry leaders in Chattanooga sensed that the Lord wants them to do more than have a memorial service on the one-year anniversary of the shootings. Instead, they plan to hold a solemn assembly, seeking the Lord together as a group of believers in Jesus Christ. This Saturday will be the first in a series of prayer events seeking God to move in the Mid-South region and our nation. Please pray for this time as the city comes together to ask God for a powerful move of His Holy Spirit in their midst. In the Burlington Revival in North Carolina, over 500 have come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior, and thousands are gathering nightly. What began as an annual one-week spring revival meeting at New Hope Baptist Church has spread into nine weeks of what can only be explained by the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit. The meetings will take a break this week so the people can be physically refreshed and also fast and pray for God to continue to move. Services will resume on July 18, with a Youth Night focus on July 22. Pray for the team leading the event, and for the community around them. Pray for a great harvest of souls next week, and that those who have responded to gospel invitations will tell others what God has done for them.Thank you for taking time to pray for these three important events. The Spirit is on the move, and we need to continually give Him praise and glory for what He is doing!
