It was exciting for OneCry to partner with Charlotte714 this week, to see so many people turning from sin, crying out for spiritual awakening together, uniting for the cause of revival.Thousands came forward to sign the OneCry Declaration of Spiritual Emergency. More than 100 churches participated in the event. The venue estimated the crowd at around 9,000!The gathering has drawn national coverage, including media outlets in  CharlotteSan FranciscoCBN, and more. Pray with us that other leaders capture the vision of hosting such a gathering in their city!Obviously, this event was timed in coordination with the Democratic National Convention being held in Charlotte this week. Like the organizers of Charlotte714, OneCry doesn’t see the ultimate answers to America’s problems in a political light; we know that real change comes from Jesus Christ. However, the political season, with its conventions and rallies and conversations, offers us a great opportunity to be “salt and light” wherever possible. We wanted to share with you the official press released from the gathering. Official Press Release:CHARLOTTE714 DRAWS 9,000, GETS NATIONAL ATTENTION AND SPARKS MOVEMENT

CHARLOTTE – Thousands of people came forward yesterday to sign a Declaration of National Spiritual Emergency at Charlotte714, city-wide prayer and worship assembly held yesterday, September 2, 2012, at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte, NC. The declaration has been put on the Internet and anyone can sign and post their prayers for our nation at www.charlotte714.com.Today organizers of Charlotte714 announced a continued partnership with OneCry, a movement of believers who are urgently crying out to God to revive the church and transform the culture. In addition to a national initiative, organizers will soon announce more unifying gatherings of churches in Charlotte to pray and impact the region.OneCry and Charlotte714 will be offering assistance to leaders seeking to replicate the prayer gathering in other cities around the United States. Leaders say they have already heard from people from around the country who heard of Charlotte714 or watched the webcast and would like for a similar gathering to come to their community. Both groups say they share a common vision to see gatherings like Charlotte714 spark another Great Awakening in the United States.“What took place this past weekend is one of many places around the nation where individuals and churches are coming together to pray for God to revive our hearts and heal our land,” said Aaron Paulus, OneCry movement coordinator. “As a partner with Charlotte714, we were thrilled to see people of all denominations and race come together to lift high the name of Jesus.”Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre management estimated approximately 9,000 people attended Charlotte714 and organizers said more than 100 churches participated.“Today, I awake more encouraged that I saw another signal that perhaps the Church of the Lord is showing signs of spiritual awakening,” said Dr. Mark Harris, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church of Charlotte. “As the Body of Christ is beginning to repent and truly seek God's presence before we seek His hand we will see incredible results”
“It was amazing to catch a glimpse of the Charlotte expression of Christ's Church bowing in repentance and unity seeking the face of God,” said David Benham, lead organizer of Charlotte714. “Last night's gathering was simply step one in a city-wide mobilization of the one spiritual church in Charlotte.”Charlotte714 derives its name from the Biblical scripture found in 2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
