Desperate Cries

“Samuel cried to the LORD for Israel and the LORD answered him” (1 Samuel 7:9 NASB).

All through the Bible, we see God’s people coming to points of desperation. And then they cry out.God Always HearsIt is an undeniable reality that God responds to the cry of His children, just as you would to the cry of yours. A mom or dad can be 100 yards away in a park, but their child’s cry sounds like it is right next to them. And, they go running to meet the need. What parent would not respond to the despairing cry of their children? It’s TimeIf ever there was a moment in America when we needed to cry out, it is now.God will hear and answer. He really will, just as He has done throughout history and just as He has promised. But there are prerequisites that precede a cry:

  • We must humbly see our need. This is not a need to return to Americanism but to return to God. We have forgotten (forsaken) Him, and this alone is the source of our troubles.
  • We must repentantly turn from our own sin, realizing that we are a part of the problem.
  • We must dependently look to God for the sole solution. Not politics. Not new plans and programs. Not people. Only God can save us.
  • We must faithfully believe that God will do what He promised. If we waver in unbelief, we are like the “surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:6-7).

Are you crying out? Daily, incessantly, unwavering in your faith? If not, why not? And if not now, when?
